International Women’s Day: Pt 1, Jhene Aiko

Happy International Women’s Day!

International Women’s Day is, according to this article, “a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements – from the political to the social – while calling for gender equality.”

Though why not celebrate with a week instead? Every day, I’ll highlight a woman and her achievements for International Women’s Day and keep this celebration going.

Today’s woman is singer and songwriter Jhene Aiko. Her albums are Souled Out (released 2014) and Sail Out (released 2013), and she’s been featured on other singer’s songs.

I first heard Jhene Aiko when she was featured on Drake’s song From Time. Her voice was so smooth that I preferred her lyrics over Drake’s.

I decided to seek out more of her music because I wanted to hear more of her voice. I wanted to see if I’d like her songs or if From Time was just a one time thing.

I found Bed Peace and I loved it both, her voice and the lyrics.

Here are some other songs I found on Youtube that are pretty amazing and I listen to all the time.

I bought her music and I haven’t been disappointed at all. Well, except that I’d love for her to put out more songs/albums than what she already has now. 😉 I can listen to her music forever.
